Tree and Woodland Management

Tree & Woodland Management Surveys & Reports

This service involves the assessment of woodlands, woodland ecosystems and management proposals. Key to this service is an initial appraisal of the woodland owner’s strategic priorities. This is a broad category because the requirements of different landowners (from timber production to purely ecological or amenity) can be so diverse. Broad Oak Tree Consultants provide woodland management services and are able to provide long term management plans to ensure that woodlands are maintained in a healthy condition.

Our Consultants will survey the woodland and report on its condition and the main issues affecting it. Information such as tree species, age and condition collected during the tree survey provides the basis for good short, mid and long-term management decisions. The individual needs of each tree can be identified and an overall management strategy implemented. Broad Oak Tree Consultants can provide tree owners with survey data to their own requirements from single trees to extensive populations and produce specifications for any remedial work required accompanied by plans. The statutory legal requirements of the tree owner regarding safety issues can also be addressed during planned management, thus reducing risk to people and property

Our Consultant, Tim Laddiman, has a degree in Forestry and was a Chartered Forester from 2000 until re-examining to change titles to Chartered Arboriculturist in 2009 with the Institute of Chartered Foresters. Tim Laddiman has been working as a Consultant Forester and Arboriculturist for 20 years. For 14 of these years Tim also ran a 60 acre recreational woodland of mixed conifers and chestnut coppice. In these 20 years Tim personally planted over 90,000 trees from cell grown saplings to container grown standards, managing trees from single garden planting and hedgerows up to 20 acres of mixed Christmas trees and broad leaves.

All trees recommended for felling or tree surgery works should be checked for the presence of bats or nesting birds prior to works commencing. Disturbance to bats or nesting birds could contravene the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and result in prosecution.
